Dinners Past
A supper club is a restaurant with a cozy club feel known for serving hearty meat dishes, classic craft cocktails and hosting nightly entertainment. Supper clubs are most typically found in the Midwest – generally Wisconsin, Minnesota, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois and Iowa.
Drawing inspiration from his Midwest roots, the first supper club was established in Beverley Hills, California by Milwaukee, Wisconsin native Lawrence Frank. This cozy club vibe caught on and became most popular during the 1930s and 1940s, known for its warm service, treating even first-time guests like members.
